Career Pathways
Each of the Workforce Partnerships has a defined career pathway. A career pathway is an educational roadmap outlining an aligned sequence of courses that prepares students for post-secondary education and career transition in a specific industry area. Most of the positions that CIW trains for begin at entry level. In order to be defined as a career pathway, as an employee receives further training and education they must be able to move out of the entry level position into consecutively higher levels of employment. A career pathway in the area of Health Care, for instance, could progress from an entry-level job doing patient transport in a hospital to a registered nurse, over years of continued training. By participating in the Career Pathways Program, CIW partners guide them through this process.
