Training Opportunities in Business Services and Operations


The Business Services and Operations (BSO) Academy combines the Central Iowa Works Skills to Success program with training in business operations and customer service, including digital literacy, financial literacy and work readiness.

An integral Business Simulation module provides workplace experience as participants operate a distribution company, via computers, software and personal interactions, while gaining real-world management, communication and conflict resolution skills – in a virtual environment.

The BSO employer partners of Central Iowa Works take part in the classroom instruction, as well as helping job seekers prepare for interviews and improve their networking skills.

A networking component of the BSO Academy encourages authentic connections among employers, job seekers and members of the community throughout the nine-week program as the career exploration portion exposes participants to many types of professional opportunities or career paths.

There is a major emphasis on serving local employers, and placing qualified candidates into insurance, banking, customer service and call center positions.
